What not to put in a storage unit

9th Oct 2022 Storage

Moving properties is like reading a journey from A to B. However sometimes we get stuck in the middle. A is finding the right house and selling your old one and B is moving in and getting settled.

This way

We are passionate about providing customers with flexible self-storage facilities here at Now Storage. After all, our purpose is to help make your life easier, whether you’re using our facilities for personal or business purposes. However, we do have rules and there are certain items you can’t store at Now Storage units. Some are hopefully common sense, while others may not be so obvious. Here is a list of what not to put in a storage unit.

Stolen, illegal goods and potentially dangerous or explosive items

What aren’t you allowed to put in a storage unit? We’ll start with the most obvious items you can’t store at Now Storage units! All storage items must absolutely be legitimate, legal, and safe to use. Therefore, no stolen, illegal, or potentially explosive goods can be stored in our storage units.

Jewellery, watches, money and deeds

Ensuring the security of our self-storage facilities is crucial to us as a brand since we pride ourselves on doing a great job of looking after our customers’ belongings.  As a result, we have state-of-the-art security in place at all of our facilities to provide excellent security for our units and keep valuable items away from any thieves. However, there are other, more appropriate places to secure items such as jewellery, watches, and money. We recommend using a safe, or similar.

Plants or similar

Plants are one of the items you can’t store at Now Storage units because they pose the risk of attracting pests, vermin or infestations which can wreak havoc. Our storage units are designed to keep your items in pristine condition from the moment they’re loaded up until the moment they leave, so we won’t store anything that could affect the balance.

Perishable items

Similar to plants, we can’t store perishable items at Now Storage units that could impact the cleanliness of our insulated facilities. That is, anything that needs to be kept refrigerated or frozen. This includes all liquids as the temperature inevitably drops over the winter.

Living creatures

As much as we’d love to meet your furry finds, animals are another one of the items you can’t store at Now Storage units. This includes fish, tortoises and tarantulas – we can’t store any animals whatsoever, regardless of whether they’re caged or not.

Yourself/other humans

Our units are not designed for humans! You’re welcome to come and escape to your unit to unload, load and organise your items, but they don’t double up as accommodation!
